Care Instructions
This website was created primarily to share free patterns, I don’t sell what I make, but I do often give items away to people I love. If you are looking for care instructions for an item you have made you should first consult the care instructions included on your yarn label.
Care Instructions
Remove any accessories or non-attached pieces, if applicable. Place inside of a clean nylon stocking, mesh laundry bag, or both. Machine wash on a gentle cycle in warm or cold water, then tumble dry on low heat
If I have given you a crocheted item, it is almost always made using acrylic yarn and washed and dried at least once using the methods described above. Acrylic yarn often holds up the best to multiple washes and rough play, so it is my first choice for making children’s toys. The yarn will typically become softer as it is washed, which can impact the overall look of the doll, and can become fuzzy, particularly if higher temperatures are used in drying. I typically will wash with towels or sheets (items without buttons or zippers which can snag items in the wash). If your toy has hair I strongly recommend using a nylon sock to protect the hair head while washing, and to prevent tangling.
Kids
If your toy / item has plastic safety eyes it is not recommended for children under 3 years old.
Items without safety eyes are more safe, but only with strict supervision. Item should be thrown away at first indication of breaking or unraveling.
Pets
Yarn toys are not safe for pets. They may unravel and be eaten. Ingesting yarn is a veterinary emergency that can cause severe, life-threatening damage to a pet's digestive tract, particularly in cats.
